€23.4M investment from Momentum to scale TNO energy and climate technology

Amsterdam, 20 April 2026 – Momentum Global Ventures confirms an investment of €23.4 million for the scaling of TNO’s Dutch gasification technology, which converts wood residuals into green gas at industrial scale for direct injection into the gas grid. Momentum’s contribution forms part of a total investment of €100 million planned for the realisation of the EemsGas green gas project in Delfzijl. Gasunie and Perpetual Next are the current shareholders of the project; TNO provides the core technology for gasification and green gas production.

A Momentum investment was aligned with the EemsGas project partners in October 2025. Following the recent allocation of a €30 million DEI+ subsidy for the project and agreement between various project partners in March, Momentum is now in a position to confirm the investment.

Joost Oostveen, Board Member, Momentum Global Ventures: “For Momentum, the partnership between TNO and Perpetual Next is a compelling example of Dutch public-private collaboration, bringing deep-tech investments to the point of scale. This energy and climate technology from TNO has been developed over two decades, made possible by the support of various Dutch government bodies. Those public investments are now being rewarded through the commitment of the EemsGas partners – including TNO, Perpetual Next, Gasunie, and new project partners – who are now jointly deploying this Dutch technology at industrial scale. First in Delfzijl through the EemsGas project; from there, this blueprint can be replicated at other locations, in the Netherlands and beyond. Now that the step to industrial scale can be made, Momentum is proud to contribute as an investor. We will bring our €23.4 million investment in as equity capital, via an investment in Perpetual Next.
