Perpetual Next, the Dutch company that converts organic waste into renewable fuels and part of the Momentum Global Ventures portfolio, has appointed Clarksons as its partner for the marketing of biomethanol in the maritime sector. Clarksons is the world’s largest shipping services provider, founded in 1852 and active in more than 60 countries. The partnership focuses on international offtake and market access through Clarksons’ global network.
Demand for biomethanol in international shipping is growing rapidly, driven by stricter decarbonisation legislation and increasing investments in methanol-capable vessels and bunkering infrastructure. Perpetual Next has developed a blueprint for large-scale biomethanol production based on proven torrefaction technology, enabling new facilities to be rolled out quickly and scalably. The Amsterdam-based company is building production sites in the Netherlands and the United States. Meanwhile, its 24-hour torrefaction facility in Estonia is being converted into a biomethanol plant.
Jurre Hijman, Chief Commercial Officer of Perpetual Next, states in the press release of 13 May 2026: “Clarksons has a very strong presence in Europe, Asia and the United States, markets in which we are active and have significant growth targets. As a company, we will benefit greatly from their market insights.”
