Perpetual Next, the Amsterdam-based company that converts organic waste into biomethanol, the sustainable alternative to fossil methanol used in chemicals, plastics, coatings and as a low-emission fuel for vessels and vehicles, has appointed Bilfinger Engineering & Consultancy as lead consultant for the Methanol Moerdijk project.
Perpetual Next is building large-scale production facilities in the Netherlands, Estonia and the United States and is part of the Momentum Global Ventures portfolio. The appointment of Bilfinger covers the environmental impact assessment and permitting support for the planned biomethanol plant in the port of Moerdijk.
Decarbonisation of Industry and Maritime Transport Methanol
Moerdijk is designed as a large-scale facility that will convert approximately 313,000 tonnes of biocarbon into around 216,000 tonnes of biomethanol annually, replacing fossil methanol and supporting the decarbonisation of industry and maritime transport. Bilfinger was selected on the basis of its experience with complex industrial permitting processes and its integrated approach to environmental impact reporting and permit applications.
Perpetual Next delivers practical solutions at industrial scale that reduce CO2 emissions, close material cycles and accelerate the transition to a circular, climate-neutral economy. The collaboration with Bilfinger in Moerdijk is a valuable addition to the project.
